the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
as in, "you're not allowed to buy anymore."
i have been going in and loading up once a week. they told me today not to come in anymore because i am pissing people off. |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
Send in your old lady next week.

Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
and then your neighbors.

Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
Pissing "whom" off?
|
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
there's a fairly regular group of people who buy ammo from this store because of its proximity to a local shooting range.
i have been going in and buying all of the .22LR and .17 HMR. i guess some people have seen me do it and complained about "that guy." so, today when i went it, they told me no more ammo for awhile, they need to be able to sell to other people besides me. i took it as a badge of honor. no biggie, there's another place just down the road. :bear_w00t: |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
WTF....you are giving them business, and they are making money off of you. What business is dumb enough to tell a loyal, buying customer that they can no longer shop there?
|
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
i don't really care, they were kind of funny about it. they get a lot of foot traffic from the range crowd, so i can understand. i think a lot of people pop in and buy a $3 box of .22 shells and then buy snacks, etc.
i took 47 boxes of HMR the other day, so i can understand their frustration. i just thought it was funny i got banned from a store for buying stuff. |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
if they were smart they would attempt to engage you in your ongoing long-term requirement for ammo and base their stocking decisions to accomodate both you and other potential customers...
|
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
It's ammunism, ammo communism - make sure everyone gets some, no one gets enough.
|
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
hahaha that's pretty good.

Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
I think in this case they are trying to quell dissent from other loyal customers. If you have 10 loyal customers, that always come and buy from you, but all of a sudden one out of those 10 buys up everything the other 9 want, there could be a problem.
Not because you are loosing business, if 1 customer is giving you the money of what all the others combines could, its obvisouly not a money issue. But rather, those other 9 come in and buy ammo, and probably other things. Well, now they are pissed off at the 1 guy and at the store and will take their money elsewhere in the future. So the store is sacraficing 1 big bulk buyer for the constant flow, lesser flow of 9 more people. Not as dumb as you'd think. |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
Could have been a little more diplomatic like limiting amounts to say 5 boxes but banning you from the store:36_1_30:...F that. I'd be sure to tell all my shooting buddies to stay away too...!!!

Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
Pretty funny because I saw a thread on my main shooting site just roasting Walmart because they allow people to walk in and buy their entire stock. I think your hardware store did the right thing. Why piss 9 loyal customers off to make one happy? Hoarding may make sense on an individual basis but it sure makes things worse.
Damned if you do---- |

Reduce what you buy.......but still have some set on the side for a "private sale". Everybody is doing "okay" considering the circumstances. T |

Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
i think the thing that really pissed them off was my HMR purchases. i have been buying ALL OF IT.
i know a lot of people at the range in question shoot hmr and count on being able to get a 50 round box quick at the place. i made that impossible for the last few weeks, so i understand their need to 'ban me.' let's hope the ace hardware 2 miles away doesn't catch on! |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
The manager of the store is stupid. When something sells out, you've got an understocking problem. In the retail businesses I've owned, my solution was to stock more of what sells out, after all, the goal of a retail business is to sell stuff, the more, the better.

Online dealers are shutting down because they cant fill the back orders fast enough. Ammo Makers can not keeep up with domestic and Gubbermint demand. This is truly unprecendented .........this dwarfts the Clinton Ban by Quantum Leaps. T |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
Go in (or have someone go in) the day before the new shipment comes in, I bet he still has some on the shelf!

Or you saying that the current ammo problem exists only because every store manager in the US is stupid and doesn't notice that his store is bought out of ammo within hours? |

It is has reached a point where you have to get somebody to "cop ammo" like back in the day when you had to get somebody to "Cop a pack of smokes" Dam. |

How are companies that make ammo doing? I would assume that they aren't laying off people for lack of work. Surely they have been at full output for the last 8 years? (War of terror, and all that) I haven't done any research on the problem, so I can't really say where the problem is. Do the same companies that make ammo for the military make ammo for the civilian market? |

Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
Went looking for 9mm and 22 mag today. nada in stock. 2 Walmarts, Academy, etc... None. Big blank spots on the shelves again.
I'm going to just order it online and deal with the 2 week back order. The last two times I've done that it has worked out OK. I can buy the "ammo mfg. cannot keep up with demand" line of thinking. But what I don't get is why are they not increasing production. This shortage has been going on for a while. Seems manipulated and/or influenced. Most businesses ramp up production when sales skyrocket. |
Re: the manager of my true value told me no more ammo
I've been waiting over a month for some 9mm +P+ from OMB Police Supply.
I only ordered 3 boxes. |

Demand is gonna fall off a cliff and they will be left in the red........It dont take a weatherman to see which way the wind in blowing on this one. When the hammer falls they will take those massive profits and buy a few islands in the Caymans somewhere. Cant blame them one Iota for not ramping up. T |

Fact is there is high demand and little supply. And that was the situation before the election too. It ain't new. We've just depleted the reserve supplies. And I would question the billions figure for retooling. They may have some capital expenditures to increase capacity but I doubt billions to get a 20% gain or so... Billions are a lot, unless you are a bank or the USG. lol |

Suppliers have know for years approx how much would be bought in a given period of time. The closer they were to selling this exact amount without any left over ment higher profit per operateing expense. The Supply Chain Top to bottom has followed the same model. This has made component manufactures as well as the Chemicle manufacturers completely empty-out of product. Thank you Zietgiest----Its the common belief that effiency is noble and good as well as smart.-----------I have come to understand it is often a sign of poverty. The most effiecent people in the world live on .30 a day. There is no arguable way to justify spending Millions on a Painting effiecent. Yet without excesses there is no Art or Beauty. No Fat for lean times. We need a big fat sloppy supply chain. E-A |
